Racism As A Political Tool

I thought racism was pretty much dead in this country…I had only seen it raise its ugly head in an occasional flare-up, like the infamous “Beer Summit” episode where President Obama spoke with prejudice to the national press before he had all the facts, the Bart Police officer murder trial, and the recent Illegal immigration controversy over Arizona’s border legislation.  My friends are multi-colored, my family is multi-colored, my neighbors are multi-colored, and America is multi-colored so I saw racism as a “non-issue,” until lately.

Racism seems to be making a comeback in America, as a political tool.  More and more politicians both “left” and “right” of the political spectrum seem to be using the concept of racism for political domination. They are exploiting racism through propaganda, legislation, social justice, and demagoguery.

I think most of us, out here in the real world, couldn’t care less what color someone is.  Most of us judge other people by they’re character.  As American’s, we have learned “asshole’s" come in all sizes and colors and “good” people come in all sizes and colors too. But politicians don’t want us to be “color-blind,” because power comes from a vote and a vote can be altered by fear.

Have you ever just been introduced to somebody and asked their race right after you asked their name? Hell no! But, that’s exactly what the government does. Every time we fill out any government form, they ask for our name and then our race. Only government entities ask this question. Why is that little piece of information so important? Because their authority comes from dividing us!  Pitting us against each other by controlling money, education, and political access, is the politicians guide to maintaining power.

Under the constitution we all have equal rights, so let’s stop filling-in the “race” question on government forms! For the past twenty years on every form where I am asked, “what is your race” I write in red ink; “This is a racist question, I refuse to answer!” So far I have not been arrested by the “race police,” but I am only one person.  All I know is, if they don’t know your race then they can’t use race as a political tool. That’s what democracy is all about.
