When
Words & Music By: Donald Stephan Jones
2008
When I was young, I thought the good guys were always right
When I was naïve, I believed that justice was fair for everyone
When I was innocent, I thought freedom would always be free
When I was foolish, I believed in the wisdom of our nobility
But, somewhere along the way, there were just to many human beings
And. somewhere along the way, politicians started living like kings
Somewhere I woke up, at the end of the American Dream
Instrumental
When I was young, I believed the sky would always be blue
When I was naïve, I thought the oceans were the cradle of life
When I was innocent, I believed the forests would forever thrive
When I was foolish, I thought we could save the world
But, somewhere along the way, the sky turned a hazy brown
And, somewhere along the way, the oceans begin to die
Somewhere along the way I heard the earth begin to cry
